Antifreeze
Freezing
temperatures can
cause serious
problems with car
and even damage the
engine. Avoid this
by checking that
your radiator is
topped up with
antifreeze.
Air
conditioning
Use
your vehicles air
conditioning in cold
weather to defrost
windows and stopped
your car steaming
up.
Battery -
Car
batteries have an
average life span of
around five years
and even relatively
new car batteries go
wrong. When the
weather gets cold
car batteries are
under more strain
with constant use of
heaters and lights
in winter weather.
Brakes -
Make
winter travelling
safe, check your
brakes are in good
working order with
no rust.
Car
tyres –
Make sure that your
tyres are in good
condition so you are
not caught out when
the weather gets
icy.
Lights –
don’t get caught out
with dark mornings
and early evenings.
Make sure all of
your lights are
working
Oil -
Check
your car's oil level
frequently in the
winter and top it up
whenever necessary
to avoid damage.
Windscreen and
windows – Don’t
get caught out with
an empty wash

slushy conditions.
